בשבילכם — דבר ה׳: מלבו, דרך ידיים נאמנות, אליכם
ויליאם טינדייל (בערך 1490–1536) הקדיש את חייו לתרגום כתבי הקודש מן הטקסטים העבריים והיווניים המקוריים לאנגלית, מתוך תשוקה להנגיש את הכתובים לכולם. חזונו היה שגם "נער המוביל את המחרשה" יכיר את הכתובים.
בשל ההתנגדות לעבודתו נאלץ טינדייל לברוח מאנגליה. הוא עבד ברחבי אירופה היבשתית, במיוחד בגרמניה ובארצות השפלה, כדי להשלים את תרגומו. בשנת 1535 נבגד ונעצר ליד אנטוורפן, ולאחר מכן נכלא בטירת וילבוארדה סמוך לבריסל.
ב־6 באוקטובר 1536 הוצא שם להורג — נחנק על המוקד ולאחר מכן נשרף. תפילתו האחרונה המתועדת הייתה: "אדוני, פקח את עיני מלך אנגליה."
בשנת 1604 אישר המלך ג׳יימס הראשון מאנגליה תרגום חדש של כתבי הקודש לאנגלית, וקבוצת מלומדים החלה בעבודה שתהפוך לתרגום המלך ג׳יימס. הוא הושלם ופורסם לראשונה בשנת 1611, תוך הישענות רבה על תרגומו המוקדם של טינדייל; אחוז גבוה מאוד מנוסח הברית החדשה בו מהדהד את עבודתו.
הקרבתו של טינדייל סייעה להביא את דבר ה׳ לידיהם של אנשים מן השורה, ועד היום היא מעצבת את האופן שבו קוראים את כתבי הקודש באנגלית ברחבי העולם.

We collect usage analytics (such as which features are used and how often) through Google Analytics, linked to a random device identifier. No personally identifiable information such as your name or email is included.
We never ask for your name or email, and there are no user accounts or logins. Like any website, our servers record technical details of each request — such as your IP address and browser — to keep the service secure and reliable.
Word meanings, verse meanings and transliterations are machine-generated and may differ from traditional Bible wording. Settings describes them as machine-generated where you turn them on, and each of them can be switched off there. None of them replaces the translation you selected.
Wireless projection pairs a screen and a phone using a short-lived pairing code or QR code. No account or sign-in is needed. Stopping the projection disconnects your devices, and the pairing session expires on its own.
