ዊልያም ቲንዴል (ከ. 1490-1536) ቅዱሳት መጻሕፍት ለሁሉም እንዲደርሱ በነበረው ታላቅ ጉጉት ተነስቶ መጽሐፍ ቅዱስን ከመነሻው የእብራይስጥና የግሪክ ጽሑፎች ወደ እንግሊዝኛ ለመተርጎም ሕይወቱን ሰጠ። ራዕዩም እንኳን "እርሻ የሚያርስ ልጅ" ቅዱሳት መጻሕፍትን እንዲያውቅ ነበር።
በሥራው ላይ የነበረው ተቃውሞ ምክንያት ከእንግሊዝ ሸሽቶ በአውሮፓ አህጉራዊ ክፍሎች፣ በተለይም በጀርመንና በሎው ካንትሪዎች በመሥራት ትርጉሙን አጠናቀቀ። በ1535 በአንትወርፕ አቅራቢያ ተከድቶ ተያዘ፣ ከዚያም በብራሰልስ አቅራቢያ በቪልቮርዴ ቤተ መንግሥት ታሰረ።
በ ጥቅምት 6, 1536 በዚያው ተገደለ፤ መጀመሪያ በእሳት ማጥያ ላይ ታንቆ ከዚያ ተቃጠለ። የመጨረሻው በመዝገብ የተቀመጠ ጸሎቱም፣ "ጌታ ሆይ፣ የእንግሊዝ ንጉሥ ዓይኖችን ክፈት።" የሚል ነበር።
በ1604 የእንግሊዝ ንጉሥ ጄምስ ፩ አዲስ የእንግሊዝኛ የመጽሐፍ ቅዱስ ትርጉም እንዲዘጋጅ ፈቀደ፣ ከዚያም ወደ King James Version የተለወጠውን ሥራ የጀመሩ ምሁራን ቡድን ተሰበሰበ። ይህ ትርጉም በ1611 ተጠናቆ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ ታተመ፣ እናም በቲንዴል ቀደምት ትርጉም ላይ እጅግ ተመስርቶ ነበር፤ ከአዲስ ኪዳኑ ቃላት ብዙዎቹ የእርሱን ሥራ ያስተጋባሉ።
