These visions and burdens were given after the captivity, when the remnant laboured to rebuild the house of the LORD amid trouble and fear. The LORD calls His people to repent, promises the coming of His anointed King, foretells judgment on the nations, and reveals a fountain opened for sin, that believers in every age might fear His holiness and rest in His mercy.
