This record showeth how the LORD dealt with Israel and Judah by kings and prophets, rewarding obedience and judging idolatry. Through Elijah, Elisha, and later seers, the LORD confirmeth His covenant, warneth of wrath, yet remembereth mercy toward a humble remnant. Believers learn that the word of the LORD cannot be broken, that prayer availeth much, and that true reform must cast down idols and cleave unto the LORD alone.
