This epistle was sent to a young church suffering persecutions and shaken in mind about the day of Christ. The apostle comforts them with the promise of rest at the Lord’s coming, warns of the man of sin and the mystery of iniquity, and exhorts believers to stand fast in the truth, walk orderly, work quietly, and wait in faith for the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ.
