And God warned Noah and all the animals and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God sent a wind to the earth to stir up the water.
And God warned Noah and all the animals and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God sent a wind to the earth to stir up the water.
The Ark Rests on Ararat
The Flood Subsides
And God warned Noah and all the animals and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God sent a wind to the earth to stir up the water.
And the fountains of the deep and the foundations of the heavens were closed, and the rain from heaven ceased.
And the water began to decrease on the earth, and it decreased equally after one hundred and fifty days;
And the ark came to rest on the seventeenth day of the seventh month on Mount Ararat.
And the water decreased more and more until the tenth month; and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the hills appeared.
Noah Sends a Raven and a Dove
And after forty days, Noah opened the window on the ark, which he had made;
And he released the raven, which equally flew away and flew back until the water on the earth dried up.
So let the dove go and see if the water has fallen from the ground.
And the dove not finding where to set her foot returned to him in the ark, because there was still water all over the earth; and Noah stretched out his hand, caught her and took her to him in the ark.
And he waited another seven days, then again he let the dove out of the coffin.
And before evening the dove returned to him, and behold, in her beak was an olive leaf, which she had torn off; so knew Noah that the water fell from the earth.
But he waited another seven days, then released the dove again, and it did not return to him.
Exiting the Ark
In the six hundred and first year of the century of Noah, on the first day of the first month, the water dried up on the earth; and Noah opened the roof of the ark, and saw dry land.
And on the twenty-seventh day of the second month, all the land was dry.
Then God spoke to Noah, saying:
Get out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons' wives with you;
All the beasts that are with you of all flesh, birds and cattle and whatever creeps on the ground, take with you, let them disperse on the ground, and let them be fruitful and multiply on the ground.
And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives went out with him.
All the beasts, all the small animals, all the birds and everything that moves on the earth according to their kinds came out of the ark.
Noah Builds an Altar
And Noah made an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean cattle and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
And the Lord smelled a pleasant fragrance, and said in his heart: I will no longer curse the earth with people, which is the thought of the heart of human evil from childhood; nor will I kill any living thing again, as I did.
From now on, as long as there is land, there will be neither sowing nor harvest, cold nor heat, summer nor winter, day nor night.
