The Tower of Babel

1 ഭൂമിയിലൊക്കെയും ഒരേ ഭാഷയും ഒരേ വാക്കും ആയിരുന്നു.

2 എന്നാൽ അവർ കിഴക്കോട്ടു യാത്ര ചെയ്ത്, ശിനാർദേശത്ത് ഒരു സമഭൂമി കണ്ട് അവിടെ കുടിയിരുന്നു.
 
ennaal avar kizhakkottu yaathra cheythu, shinaardeshathu oru samabhoomi kandu avide kudiyirunnu.
But they traveled to the east and found a plain in Shinardesh and stayed there.
3 അവർ തമ്മിൽ: വരുവിൻ, നാം ഇഷ്ടക അറുത്തു ചുടുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഇഷ്ടക കല്ലായും പശമണ്ണ് കുമ്മായമായും ഉപയോഗിച്ചു.
 
avar thammil: varuvin, naam ishtaka aruthu chuduka ennu paranju. angane avar ishtaka kallaayum pashamannu kummaayamaayum upayogichu.
They said to each other: Come, let us cut and bake bricks. So they used brick as stone and clay as lime.
4 വരുവിൻ; നാം ഭൂതലത്തിലൊക്കെയും ചിതറിപ്പോകാതിരിപ്പാൻ ഒരു പട്ടണവും ആകാശത്തോളം എത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഗോപുരവും പണിക; നമുക്ക് ഒരു പേരുമുണ്ടാക്കുക എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
 
varuvin; naam bhoothalathilokkeyum chitharippogathirippaan oru pattanavum aakshatholam athunna oru gopuravum panika; namukku oru perumundakkuka ennu avar paranju.
Come; Build a city and a tower that reaches to heaven, so that we will not be scattered over the face of the earth; They said let's make a name.
5 മനുഷ്യർ പണിത പട്ടണവും ഗോപുരവും കാണേണ്ടതിനു യഹോവ ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു.
 
manushyar panitha pattanavum gopuravum kaanendathinu yahova irangivannu.
Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower that men had built.
6 അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ: ഇതാ, ജനം ഒന്ന്, അവർക്കെല്ലാവർക്കും ഭാഷയും ഒന്ന്; ഇതും അവർ ചെയ്തുതുടങ്ങുന്നു; അവർ ചെയ്‍വാൻ നിരൂപിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും അവർക്ക് അസാധ്യമാകയില്ല.
 
appol yahova: ithaa, janam onnu, avarkkellaavarkkum bhashayum onnu; ithum avar cheythuthudangunnu; avar chey‍vaan niroopikkunnathonnum avarkku asaadhyamaakayilla.
Then Jehovah said: Behold, the people are one, and they all have one language; And this they begin to do; Nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them.
7 വരുവിൻ; നാം ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെന്ന്, അവർ തമ്മിൽ ഭാഷ തിരിച്ചറിയാതിരിപ്പാൻ അവരുടെ ഭാഷ കലക്കിക്കളക എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
 
varuvin; naam irangichennu, avar thammil bhasha thirichariyaathirippaan avarude bhasha kalakkikkalaka ennu aruliccheythu.
Come; We came down and said, 'Let us confuse their language so that they do not recognize each other's language.'
8 അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തിലെങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചു; അവർ പട്ടണം പണിയുന്നതു വിട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
 
angane yahova avare avideninnu bhoothalathilengum chinnichu; avar pattanam paniyunnathu vittukalanju.
So the LORD scattered them from there to the face of the earth; They left off building the city.
9 സർവഭൂമിയിലെയും ഭാഷ യഹോവ അവിടെവച്ചു കലക്കിക്കളകയാൽ അതിനു ബാബേൽ എന്നു പേരായി; യഹോവ അവരെ അവിടെനിന്നു ഭൂതലത്തിൽ എങ്ങും ചിന്നിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
 
sarvabhoomiyileyum bhasha yahova avidevachu kalakkikkalakayaal athinu babel ennu peraayi; yahova avare avideninnu bhoothalathil engum chinnichukalanju.
Because Jehovah confused the language of all the earth there, it was called Babel; Jehovah scattered them from there to all over the face of the earth.

Genealogy from Shem to Abram

10 ശേമിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിത്: ശേമിനു നൂറു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ ജലപ്രളയത്തിനു പിമ്പ് രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അർപ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
sheminte vamshapaarambaryamaavithu: sheminu nooru vayassaayappol avan jalapralayathinu pinbu randu samvalsaram kazhinjashesham arppakshaadine janippichu.
This is the genealogy of Shem: When Shem was a hundred years old, he begat Arpachshad, two years after the flood.
11 അർപ്പക്ഷാദിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശേം അഞ്ഞൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
arppakshaadine janippichashesham shem anjooru samvalsaram jeevichirunnu puthranmaareyum puthrimaareyum janippichu.
After he begat Arpachshad, Shem lived five hundred years and begat sons and daughters.
12 അർപ്പക്ഷാദിനു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
arppakshaadinu muppathanju vayassaayappol avan shaalahine janippichu.
When Arpachshad was thirty-five years old, he begot Salah.
13 ശാലഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം അർപ്പക്ഷാദ് നാനൂറ്റിമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
shaalahine janippichashesham arppakshaad naanootimoonnu samvalsaram jeevichirunnu puthranmaareyum puthrimaareyum janippichu.
Arpachshad lived four hundred and three years after he begat Salah, and begat sons and daughters.
14 ശാലഹിനു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
shaalahinu muppathu vayassaayappol avan eberine janippichu.
When Salah was thirty years old, he fathered Eber.
15 ഏബെരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശാലഹ് നാനൂറ്റിമൂന്നു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
eberine janippichashesham shaalah naanootimoonnu samvalsaram jeevichirunnu puthranmaareyum puthrimaareyum janippichu.
And Salah lived four hundred and three years after he begat Eber, and begat sons and daughters.
16 ഏബെരിനു മുപ്പത്തിനാലു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
eberinu muppathinaalu vayassaayappol avan pelegine janippichu.
When Eber was thirty-four years old, he begot Peleg.
17 പേലെഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ഏബെർ നാനൂറ്റിമുപ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
pelegine janippichashesham eber naanootimuppathu samvalsaram jeevichirunnu puthranmaareyum puthrimaareyum janippichu.
And Eber lived four hundred and thirty years after he begat Peleg, and begat sons and daughters.
18 പേലെഗിനു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
peleginu muppathu vayassaayappol avan reyoovine janippichu.
When Peleg was thirty years old, he begot Reu.
19 രെയൂവിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം പേലെഗ് ഇരുനൂറ്റൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
reyoovine janippichashesham peleg irunootombathu samvalsaram jeevichirunnu puthranmaareyum puthrimaareyum janippichu.
And Peleg lived two hundred and nine years after he begat Reu, and begat sons and daughters.
20 രെയൂവിനു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
reyoovinu muppathirandu vayassaayappol avan sheroogine janippichu.
When Reyu was thirty-two years old, he gave birth to Serug.
21 ശെരൂഗിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം രെയൂ ഇരുനൂറ്റേഴു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
sheroogine janippichashesham reyoo irunootezhu samvalsaram jeevichirunnu puthranmaareyum puthrimaareyum janippichu.
After giving birth to Serug, Reu lived two hundred and seven years and begat sons and daughters.
22 ശെരൂഗിനു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
sherooginu muppathu vayassaayappol avan naahoorine janippichu.
When Serug was thirty years old, he begot Nahor.
23 നാഹോരിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ശെരൂഗ് ഇരുനൂറു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

After he begat Nahor, Serug lived two hundred years and begat sons and daughters.
24 നാഹോരിന് ഇരുപത്തൊമ്പതു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
naahoorinu irupathombathu vayassaayappol avan therahine janippichu.
When Nahor was twenty-nine years old, he begot Terah.
25 തേരഹിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചശേഷം നാഹോർ നൂറ്റിപ്പത്തൊമ്പതു സംവത്സരം ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
therahine janippichashesham naahor nootippathombathu samvalsaram jeevichirunnu puthranmaareyum puthrimaareyum janippichu.
And Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years after he begat Terah, and begat sons and daughters.
26 തേരഹിന് എഴുപതു വയസ്സായപ്പോൾ അവൻ അബ്രാം, നാഹോർ, ഹാരാൻ എന്നിവരെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
therahinu ezhupathu vayassaayappol avan abraam, naahor, haraan ennivare janippichu.
When Terah was seventy years old, he fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Terah’s Descendants

27 തേരഹിന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യമാവിത്: തേരഹ് അബ്രാമിനെയും നാഹോരിനെയും ഹാരാനെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു; ഹാരാൻ ലോത്തിനെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
 
therahite vamshapaarambaryamaavithu: therah abraamineyum naahoorineyum haraaneyum janippichu; haraan lothine janippichu.
And this is the genealogy of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; Haran begat Lot.
28 എന്നാൽ ഹാരാൻ തന്റെ ജന്മദേശത്തു വച്ചു, കൽദയരുടെ ഒരു പട്ടണമായ ഊരിൽ വച്ചുതന്നെ, തന്റെ അപ്പനായ തേരഹിനു മുമ്പേ മരിച്ചുപോയി.
 
ennaal haraan thante janmadeshathu vachu, kaldayarude oru pattanamaaya ooril vachuthanne, thante appanaaya therahinu munbe marichupoyi.
But Haran died in his native land, in Ur, a city of the Chaldeans, before his father Terah.
29 അബ്രാമും നാഹോരും ഭാര്യമാരെ എടുത്തു: അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യക്കു സാറായി എന്നും നാഹോരിന്റെ ഭാര്യക്കു മിൽക്കാ എന്നും പേർ. ഇവൾ മിൽക്കായുടെയും യിസ്കായുടെയും അപ്പനായ ഹാരാന്റെ മകൾ തന്നെ.
 
abraamum naahoorum bhaaryamaare eduthu: abraaminte bhaaryakku saarayi ennum naahoorinte bhaaryakku milkkaa ennum per. eval milkkaayudeyum yiskaayudeyum appanaaya haraante makal thanne.
Abram and Nahor took wives: Abram's wife's name was Sarai, and Nahor's wife's name was Milcah. She was the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and Isaac.
30 സാറായി മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു; അവൾക്കു സന്തതി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.
 
saarayi machiyaayirunnu; avalkku santhi undayirunnilla.
Sarai was Machi; She had no children.
31 തേരഹ് തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിനെയും ഹാരാന്റെ മകനായ തന്റെ പൗത്രൻ ലോത്തിനെയും തന്റെ മകനായ അബ്രാമിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായി മരുമകളായ സാറായിയെയും കൂട്ടി കൽദയരുടെ പട്ടണമായ ഊരിൽനിന്നു കനാൻദേശത്തേക്കു പോകുവാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവർ ഹാരാൻവരെ വന്ന് അവിടെ പാർത്തു.

Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of Haran his grandson, and Sarai the daughter-in-law of his son Abram's wife, and set out from Ur, a city of the Chaldeans, to go to the land of Canaan; They came to Haran and stayed there.
32 തേരഹിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ഇരുനൂറ്റഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു; തേരഹ് ഹാരാനിൽവച്ചു മരിച്ചു.
 
therahite aayushkaalam irunootanju samvalsaram aayirunnu; therah haraanilvachu marichu.
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years; Terah died in Haran.
