And the serpent was naked like every beast of the field that Jehovah God had made, and he said to the woman, even though God had said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden.
The Serpent’s Deception
The Fall of Man
And the serpent was naked like every beast of the field that Jehovah God had made, and he said to the woman, even though God had said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden.
And the woman said to the serpent, we may eat of the fruit of the tree of the garden
And of the fruit of the tree which is in the garden, God said, You shall not eat of it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die
And the serpent said to the woman, you will not die, you will be calm
For God knew that in the day you ate of it and your eyes were opened and you were like that, knowing good and evil
And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eyes, and that the tree was pleasant for the wise, and she took of its fruit and ate, and gave it also to the woman with her, and she ate
And the eyes of both of them were opened and they knew that they were naked and they sewed a fig leaf and made a belt for them
God Arraigns Adam and Eve
And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden to the wind of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the face of the Lord God in the tree of the garden
And Jehovah God called to the man and said to him lamentation
And he said, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid that I am their city and I will hide them."
And he said, "Who told you that you are a city of manna from the tree from which you were commanded not to eat? You ate from it."
And the man said, the woman who gave me my name gave me from the tree and I ate
And Jehovah God said to the woman, "What hast thou done?"
The Fate of the Serpent
And Jehovah God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, cursed art thou above every beast and every beast of the field, on thy belly shall thou go, and dust thou shalt eat all the days of thy life.
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed, he shall smite the head, and you shall smite the heel
The Punishment of Mankind
He said to the woman, "Many locusts, your sadness, and your sadness will bring forth sons, and to your husband, your desire, and he will rule over you."
And to the man he said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it, cursed is the ground because of you. You shall eat of it all the days of your life.
And thorn and thistle shall grow unto thee, and thou hast eaten the grass of the field
By the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread until you return to the earth, for from it you took it, for dust you are and to dust you shall return
And the man named his wife Eve because she was the mother of all living things
The Expulsion from Paradise
And Jehovah God made for Adam and his wife coats of skin and clothed them
And Jehovah God said, Man was as one of himself, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.
And Jehovah God sent him from heaven to cultivate the land that he had taken from there
And he will drive out man and dwell in Paradise, bringing the chariots and the flaming sword that turns to preserve the way of the tree of life
