At that time, people all over the world had the same accent and speech.

The Tower of Babel

1 那時、天下人的口音言語、都是一樣。
 
Nà shí, tiānxià rén de kǒuyīn yányǔ, dōu shì yīyàng.
At that time, people all over the world had the same accent and speech.
2 他們往東邊遷移的時候、在 示拿 地遇見一片平原、就住在那裏。
 
Tāmen wǎng dōngbian qiānyí de shíhòu, zài shì ná de yùjiàn yīpiàn píngyuán, jiù zhù zài nàlǐ.
As they moved eastward, they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they settled there.
3 他們彼此商量說、來罷、我們要作甎、把甎燒透了。他們就拿甎當石頭、又拿石漆當灰泥。
 
Tāmen bǐcǐ shāngliáng shuō, lái bà, wǒmen yào zuò zhuān, bǎ zhuān shāo tòule. Tāmen jiù ná zhuān dāng shítou, yòu ná shí qī dāng huī ní.
They discussed among themselves and said, Come on, let us make a pot and burn it thoroughly. They used pottery for stones and varnish for mortar.
4 他們說、來罷、我們要建造一座城、和一座塔、塔頂通天、爲要傳揚我們的名、免得我們分散在全地上。
 
Tāmen shuō, lái bà, wǒmen yào jiànzào yīzuò chéng, hé yīzuò tǎ, tǎ dǐng tōngtiān, wèi yào chuányáng wǒmen de míng, miǎndé wǒmen fēnsàn zài quán dìshàng.
They said, Come, let us build a city and a tower with its top reaching to heaven; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered throughout the face of the earth.
5 耶和華降臨要看看世人所建造的城和塔。
 
Yēhéhuá jiànglín yào kàn kàn shìrén suǒ jiànzào de chéng hé tǎ.
The Lord came to see the city and the tower that men had built.
6 耶和華說、看哪、他們成爲一樣的人民、都是一樣的言語、如今旣作起這事來、以後他們所要作的事、就沒有不成就的了。
 
Yēhéhuá shuō, kàn nǎ, tāmen chéngwèi yīyàng de rénmín, dōu shì yīyàng de yányǔ, rújīn jì zuò qǐ zhè shì lái, yǐhòu tāmen suǒyào zuò de shì, jiù méiyǒu bù chéngjiù dele.
And the LORD said, Behold, they are one people, and they all speak the same language: and now that they have begun to do this, there is nothing they will fail to accomplish.
7 我們下去、在那裏變亂他們的口音、使他們的言語、彼此不通。
 
Wǒmen xiàqù, zài nàlǐ biànluàn tāmen de kǒuyīn, shǐ tāmen de yányǔ, bǐcǐ bùtōng.
We went down there to confuse their accents and make their speech incomprehensible.
8 於是耶和華使他們從那裏分散在全地上．他們就停工不造那城了。
 
Yúshì yēhéhuá shǐ tāmen cóng nàlǐ fēnsàn zài quán dìshàng. Tāmen jiù tínggōng bù zào nà chéngle.
So the LORD scattered them from there over the entire earth. So they stopped building the city.
9 因爲耶和華在那裏變亂天下人的言語、使衆人分散在全地上、所以那城名呌 巴別 。 ○
 
Yīnwèi yēhéhuá zài nàlǐ biànluàn tiānxià rén de yányǔ, shǐ zhòngrén fēnsàn zài quán dìshàng, suǒyǐ nà chéng míng jiào bā bié. ￮
Because there the LORD confused the language of the people of the world and scattered them all over the face of the earth, so the name of the city was Babel. ○

Genealogy from Shem to Abram

10 閃 的後代記在下面．洪水以後二年、 閃 一百歲生了 亞法撒 。
 
Shǎn de hòudài jì zài xiàmiàn. Hóngshuǐ yǐhòu èr nián, shǎn yībǎi suì shēngle yà fǎ sā.
The descendants of Shem are recorded below. Two years after the flood, when Shem was one hundred years old, he begat Arpachshad.
11 閃 生 亞法撒 之後、又活了五百年．並且生兒養女。
 
Shǎn shēng yà fǎ sā zhīhòu, yòu huóle wǔbǎi nián. Bìngqiě shēng ér yǎngnǚ.
After Shem begot Arpachshad, he lived another five hundred years. And have sons and daughters.
12 亞法撒 活到三十五歲、生了 沙拉 ．
 
Yà fǎ sā huó dào sānshíwǔ suì, shēngle shālā.
Arpachshad lived to be thirty-five years old and gave birth to Salalah.
13 亞法撒 生 沙拉 之後、又活了四百零三年．並且生兒養女。
 
Yà fǎ sā shēng shālā zhīhòu, yòu huóle sìbǎi líng sān nián. Bìngqiě shēng ér yǎngnǚ.
After Arpachshad begat Salalah, he lived another four hundred and three years. And have sons and daughters.
14 沙拉 活到三十歲、生了 希伯 ．
 
Shālā huó dào sānshí suì, shēngle xī bó.
Sarah lived to be thirty years old and gave birth to Eber.
15 沙拉 生 希伯 之後、又活了四百零三年．並且生兒養女。
 
Shālā shēng xī bó zhīhòu, yòu huóle sìbǎi líng sān nián. Bìngqiě shēng ér yǎngnǚ.
After Sarah begot Eber, he lived another four hundred and three years. And have sons and daughters.
16 希伯 活到三十四歲、生了 法勒 ．
 
Xī bó huó dào sānshísì suì, shēngle fǎ lēi.
Eber lived to be thirty-four years old and fathered Peleg.
17 希伯 生 法勒 之後、又活了四百三十年．並且生兒養女。
 
Xī bó shēng fǎ lēi zhīhòu, yòu huóle sìbǎi sānshí nián. Bìngqiě shēng ér yǎngnǚ.
After Eber begot Peleg, he lived another four hundred and thirty years. And have sons and daughters.
18 法勒 活到三十歲、生了 拉吳 ．
 
Fǎ lēi huó dào sānshí suì, shēngle lā wú.
Peleg lived to be thirty years old and gave birth to Lawu.
19 法勒 生 拉吳 之後、又活了二百零九年．並且生兒養女。
 
Fǎ lēi shēng lā wú zhīhòu, yòu huóle èrbǎi líng jiǔ nián. Bìngqiě shēng ér yǎngnǚ.
After Peleg gave birth to Lawu, he lived another two hundred and nine years. And have sons and daughters.
20 拉吳 活到三十二歲、生了 西鹿 ．
 
Lā wú huó dào sānshí'èr suì, shēngle xī lù.
Lawu lived to the age of thirty-two and gave birth to Xilu.
21 拉吳 生 西鹿 之後、又活了二百零七年．並且生兒養女。
 
Lā wúshēngxī lù zhīhòu, yòu huóle èrbǎi líng qī nián. Bìngqiě shēng ér yǎngnǚ.
After La Wu gave birth to Xilu, he lived another 207 years. And have sons and daughters.
22 西鹿 活到三十歲、生了 拿鶴 ．
 
Xī lù huó dào sānshí suì, shēngle ná hè.
Serug lived to be thirty years old and gave birth to Nahor.
23 西鹿 生 拿鶴 之後、又活了二百年．並且生兒養女。
 
Xī lù shēng ná hè zhīhòu, yòu huóle èrbǎi nián. Bìngqiě shēng ér yǎngnǚ.
After Xilu gave birth to Nahor, he lived another two hundred years. And have sons and daughters.
24 拿鶴 活到二十九歲、生了 他拉 ．
 
Ná hè huó dào èrshíjiǔ suì, shēngle tā lā.
Nahor lived until he was twenty-nine years old, and became the father of Terah.
25 拿鶴 生 他拉 之後、又活了一百一十九年．並且生兒養女。
 
Ná hèshēng tā lā zhīhòu, yòu huóle yībǎi yīshíjiǔ nián. Bìngqiě shēng ér yǎngnǚ.
After Nahor was the father of Terah, he lived another one hundred and nineteen years. And have sons and daughters.
26 他拉 活到七十歲、生了 亞伯蘭 、 拿鶴 、 哈蘭 。
 
Tā lā huó dào qīshí suì, shēngle yà bó lán, ná hè, hā lán.
Terah lived to be seventy years old, and became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

Terah’s Descendants

27 他拉 的後代、記在下面． 他拉 生 亞伯蘭 、 拿鶴 、 哈蘭 ． 哈蘭 生 羅得 。
 
Tā lā de hòudài, jì zài xiàmiàn. Tā lā shēng yà bó lán, ná hè, hā lán. Hā lán shēng luó dé.
These are the descendants of Terah: Terah was the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Haran begot Lot.
28 哈蘭 死在他的本地 迦勒底 的 吾珥 、在他父親 他拉 之先。
 
Hā lán sǐ zài tā de běndì jiā lēi dǐ de wú ěr, zài tā fùqīn tā lā zhī xiān.
Haran died in his native land, Ur of the Chaldees, before his father Terah.
29 亞伯蘭 、 拿鶴 、各娶了妻． 亞伯蘭 的妻子名呌 撒萊 ． 拿鶴 的妻子名呌 密迦 、是 哈蘭 的女兒． 哈蘭 是 密迦 和 亦迦 的父親。
 
Yà bó lán, ná hè, gè qǔle qī. Yà bó lán de qīzǐ míng jiào sā lái. Ná hè de qīzǐ míng jiào mì jiā, shì hā lán de nǚ'ér. Hā lán shì mì jiā hé yì jiā de fùqīn.
Abram and Nahor each had a wife. Abram’s wife’s name was Sarai. Nahor's wife was named Milcah, the daughter of Haran. Haran was the father of Milcah and Icah.
30 撒萊 不生育、沒有孩子。
 
Sā lái bù shēngyù, méiyǒu háizǐ.
Sarai was barren and had no children.
31 他拉 帶着他兒子 亞伯蘭 、和他孫子 哈蘭 的兒子 羅得 、並他兒婦 亞伯蘭 的妻子 撒萊 、出了 迦勒底 的 吾珥 、要往 迦南 地去、他們走到 哈蘭 就住在那裏。
 
Tā lā dàizhe tā érzǐ yà bó lán, hé tā sūnzǐ hā lán de érzǐ luó dé, bìng tā er fù yà bó lán de qīzǐ sā lái, chūle jiā lēi dǐ de wú ěr, yào wǎng jiā nán de qù, tāmen zǒu dào hā lán jiù zhù zài nàlǐ.
Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his son-in-law Sarai, Abram's wife, and they left Ur of the Chaldees to go into the land of Canaan. They came to Haran and dwelt there.
32 他拉 共活了二百零五歲、就死在 哈蘭 。
 
Tā lā gòng huóle èrbǎi líng wǔ suì, jiù sǐ zài hā lán.
Terah lived two hundred and five years, and died in Haran.
